EXTENSION PROGRAMS - MEGA MATHS VISIT
Every week, we have a group of students from Years 2 to 6 who engage and participate in extension programs. Each program has an online teacher that the students interact with throughout the year.
Our Mega Maths group of Kit, Thomas, and Sebastian complete mathematical challenges to post online for their teacher, Mrs Blackburn, to mark and give feedback. Last Friday, they had a visit from Mrs Blakburn.
She brought numerous challenges that led the way to a special set of code words. She was amazed at how quickly just 3 of our students solved them, and they got to choose a puzzle to take home with them.
A huge thank you to Mrs Blackburn for visiting Molesworth, working with our students, and for support and feedback online throughout the year.

GRADE 5-6 STEM EXCURSION FOR SCIENCE WEEK
The grade 5-6 travelled to New Norfolk High School this morning to take part in the STEM Expo as part of Science Week. As you can see, a lot of fun was had!

On Tuesday 19th of August, southern schools across Tasmania are participating in the SPSSA Big Winter Carnival for 2025. There are 6 sports included: AFL, AFLW, hockey, netball, soccer, and tennis.
This year, we nominated 13 Grade 5/6 students, and 10 were chosen to represent our region in Netball, AFLW, and Soccer. An incredible achievement, especially for our Year 5 students! Congratulations, Breeah, Kelsey, Lacie, Chelsea, Darcy, Harrison, and Timana. Best of luck to you all next week.
To those who went to trials and were not selected, we wish you all the best next year!
Thank you very much to our wonderful parents and carers for transporting our students to trials, training, and to game day next Tuesday!
This year, students from every class have celebrated National Tree Planting Day by participating in various activities around our school and throughout the community.
Kinder students celebrated the letter ‘P’ by planting a variety of seeds and cuttings, including Paper Daisies, Pig Face, and Poppies. Once grown, these will be planted around our school grounds.
The 3-4 students helped to complete our new flag-raising garden in the school turning circle. They researched the significance of commemorative plants, such as Rosemary, and planted other symbolic species to complete the garden. The garden features the RSL Spirit of ANZAC Grevillea, as well as our school house teams, Waratah and Gum (River mint will be included soon). Thank you to Bunnings Glenorchy for supplying all the Rosemary shrubs, the Waratah, and a dwarf gum.

Students from all other classes went to one of our neighbouring properties and continued the work that we have been doing alongside the Derwent Catchment Project in previous years. Invasive willow trees have been removed from a stream, and students helped to plant over 200 native species to regenerate this waterway, providing fresh habitats and preventing erosion. Our thanks go to the Derwent Catchment Project for supplying all the plants, garden stakes, tree guards, and on-the-day support for this worthwhile project.
We can’t wait to watch our beautiful plants grow.
